It appears that on top of waiting for the new season of “Hawaii Five-0,” fans of Kono (Grace Park) and Adam (Ian Anthony Dale) would have to be a little bit more patient for their reunion. As it turns out, the show will further explore the current situation which leaves Adam behind bars.
Showrunner Peter M. Lenkov dished out the details as he talked to Entertainment Weekly’s Natalie Abrams saying, “These two people have to get to know each other again. Some of that erodes when there’s distance. Especially being in prison, your mind starts to wander and you start to question things.”
Despite the hurdle, Lenkov banks of the couple’s stable relationship which will eventually carry them through their separation. Much more now since just before Adam was put inside the penitentiary, they were still able to tie the knot.
“Their relationship is in a healthy place, I just think that they’re going to need to get to know each other again when he comes out. But I think she will trust him,” he added.
For quite some time now, Adam has been trying to get rid of his Yakuza roots. And while time in prison is never a good thing, it may actually help him finally get rid of his past and start a new life with Kono when he finally comes out. Although it might take some time, Adam will eventually get out of jail sometime in the next season.
The seventh year run of the police procedural will not incorporate time jump and will pick up where season 6 left off, as Lenkov has previously confirmed. Because of this, fans will have a chance to see McGarrett’s (Alex O’Loughlin) step-by-step path to recovery after his most recent life-threatening mishap.
“Hawaii Five-0” season 7 will premiere on Sept. 23. It will air every Friday night, 9 p.m. ET on CBS.
