Just like what was previously promised, Microsoft and game developer 343 Industries revealed the all-new Warzone map for the upcoming game, Halo 5: Guardians. The all-new map is entitled Raid on Apex 7, and is currently the biggest Warzone map the franchise has released to date, approximately four times larger than any other maps released within the game’s history so far.
According to a report by GameSpot, the reveal of the new multiplayer Warzone map was done during the first day of the recently held San Diego Comic-Con. However, Microsoft and 343 Industries made a very different approach of a reveal by doing something that is out of the common. Instead of doing a video reveal or a gameplay demo, the publishing and developing companies partnered with Mega Bloks in order to build the entire span of the massive multiplayer map into a 6′ x 6′ model made out entirely of Mega Bloks.
The entire model of the map is made out more than 89,500 blocks and weighs about half a ton. It took two master builders to finish the entire project in a span of sixteen weeks. What’s more, the model is complete with working, interactive LED lights, giving more life to the map model.
The Raid on Apex 7 is a successor to The Silent Cartographer mission in Halo: Combat Evolved. Here is the official description of the new Warzone map:
“Clearing out the initial Covenant threats and controlling the Forerunner Spire in the center of the island is paramount to a team’s success and provides a central base of operations. If your team loses the Spire, don’t despair; players can use a system of caves or taketo the beach to flank the base. Beware of the Covenant though, for they will not let you take this islandso easily. They will counterattack and fight to retake their territory. Continue the push for control of the island and take out the opposition’s core… before you awaken something much worse.”
Halo 5: Guardians comes to Xbox One on October 27.
