Half Life 3 update: text files in Dota 2 stir hopes of third installment; Gabe Newell Simulator now out

Fans of the Half Life franchise have found new hope in the development of Half Life 3 following reported easter eggs from Valve that were found in the popular Dota 2 game.

According to a report by MasterHerald, there were some text files found in the game that could be referencing the Half Life series such as VY movement, Chaperone, Squads and, apparently, Combine pulse ceiling turrets.

Fans believe that this could be a hint that the studio is developing the third part of the franchise but there were also those who believe that it could just the developers pulling a gag on gamers.

Valve head Gabe Newell has not discounted the possibility of Half Life 3 but said that this will depend on the developers themselves.

“The only reason we’d go back and do like a super classic kind of product is if a whole bunch of people just internally at Valve said they wanted to do it and had a reasonable explanation for why [they did],” he said in an interview early this year.

Meanwhile, the clamor for a new addition to the Half Life franchise is such that there has been a new game released online called the Gabe Newell Simulator, which seem to be a not too subtle hint for the Valve boss to set Half Life 3 in motion.

The game basically allows gamers to assume the role of Gabe Newell and among the things that he can do is release “Half Life 3.”

According to Steam Community page, the game’s description reads: “‘Gabe Newell Simulator’ is a game for those who have always dreamed of being the glorious PC Master Race Gabe Newell! You can impersonate Gabe and help him in his fight against other companies and make the decision to release ‘Half Life 3’ or not, and this will have consequences in the whole world!”
