'Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 2' news: Villain allegedly revealed as Ego The Living Planet


The upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film “Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 2” is more than a year away from its release, but rumors and speculations about its many aspects just keep on coming and coming.

Now, a new report claimed to have revealed the big villain for the upcoming film, someone who is a classic villain to the world of Marvel Comics, but also someone who had never been in the list of expected villains coming for the sequel film. According to the latest rumors, Ego The Living Planet is coming as a villain in “Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 2.”

According to a report by Geek.com, an anonymous source close to the film’s production process revealed to them the identity of the villain for the upcoming “Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 2” film. According to the tip, it will be none other than Ego The Living Planet, whoas his name saysis indeed a living planet with a consciousness and is able to bring massive destruction if left uncontrolled.

In the comics, Ego The Living Planet first appeared in “Thor” #132 September 1962 issue, as a villain of the God of Thunder. In his original story, Ego was once a normal planet named Ego, until one scientist merged himself with the planet, when Ego’s sun went nova. Ego then began absorbing everything in space, and eventually aimed for intergalactic domination. He later on crossed paths with Thor and was defeated by the God of Thunder. When Galactus once aimed to absorb Ego to make himself stronger, Thor and Ego teamed up to drive him away.

“Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 2” director James Gunn once released a message regarding spoilers and rumors about the film, in the light of “false” news spreading like wildfire. In a Facebook post, Gunn expressed his disappointment in people who intend to ruin the film experience and promised not to give any comment about rumors and speculations anymore.

“Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 2” opens in theaters on May 5, 2017.
