'Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 2' news: Kurt Russell confirms he was approached by Marvel for a role

Actor Kurt Russell recently confirmed that he is indeed in talks with Marvel Studios for a possible role for the upcoming sequel to the James Gun-helmed Marvel Cinematic Universe film, “Guardians of The Galaxy Vo. 2.”

In his appearance in the Happy Sad Confused podcast episode over at Wolfpop, Russell revealed that while he was called up for a possible role, he cannot decide yet for he is totally unfamiliar with the world of “Guardians of The Galaxy.”

“I literally got a phone call two days ago about this,” Russell said in the Happy Sad Confused podcast. “I’ve never seen Guardians of the Galaxy so I don’t know anything about it… So, I didn’t realize that [James Gunn] had written and directed it, but we talked to each other on the phone. And I just had to be honest and say, ‘Thank you for considering me, I have to read [the script], and I have to watch the [first] movie because I can’t bring anything for you [right now]. I’ve got nothing to offer here. So, I’m amazed to get asked about this because everybody knows more about it than I do… it’s a little weird.”

The role that Russell is rumored to be offered with is the mysterious character of the father of Peter Quill/Star-Lord. There had been numerous rumors about the real identity of Peter Quill’s fatherfor Gunn’s version deviated from the comics. However, lately, director and writer Gunn himself debunked the rumors claiming to have legitimate information and expressed his disappointment in people doing such.

“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” is set to hit theaters on May 5, 2017.
