Earlier this month, there were rumors that Rockstar Games was going to make a big announcement at Sony’s PlayStation Meeting, and fans hoped that the game developer was finally going to break some important news regarding “Grand Theft Auto 6.” However, the event came and went, and Rockstar was a no-show at the event.
The rumors were spurred by Twitter user Tidux who posted a guitar and star emoji on the microblogging site along with the hashtag “#PSM” in August. Many believed that Tidux was referring to Rockstar and that the gaming company would be putting in an appearance at the PlayStation Meeting. But at the event, there was nary a whisper of “GTA 6” as Rockstar wasn’t even at the Sept. 7 gathering.
Instead, Sony unveiled the PlayStation 4 Pro, the long-rumored upgraded model of the PlayStation 4. The device will be available worldwide on Nov. 10. The tech giant also revealed a smaller version of the original PS4 which will be on shelves this week, as well as a new controller and camera for the gaming console.
Wired reports that Sony did not announce any new games at the event, but the company did reveal some of the titles which will have PS4 Pro enhancements to the graphics. Among the games that were mentioned to have this feature are “Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare,” “Mass Effect: Andromeda,” “FIFA 17,” and “Battlefield 1.”
This isn’t the first time that fans have experienced disappointment with regard to “GTA 6,” as the title has been rumored to be in the works for years. There are rumors that the game will be set in London during the 1960s, while other theories claim that it could be set in the 1970s in a new city. There are rumors that the game will have a female protagonist, as well as new professions for other characters. The game is expected to be released in 2018 for PlayStation 4 Pro, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
