“Grimm” star David Giuntoli, who plays the character of Nick Burkhardt in the series, recently talked with TV Insider about the season 5 finale and what fans can expect in the upcoming sixth season.
“This whole season has been an ISIS story, but I think the show is going to be moving away from Black Claw and on to a new direction where it will be much more about the core characters,” Giuntoli said. “Renard is going to be the big bad in Season 6. We’ll focus more on him and his rise to power and what that means. I don’t know this for absolute sure, but that’s the word on the street.”
In the final episode of season 5, Nick had been heavily injured in a fight and seemed, at first, to be on the brink of his end. However, a mystical artifact in the form of a magical stick came into play and healed Nick and brought him back to fighting form. Giuntoli said that though they had done cliffhangers in the past that led to the deaths of major characters at this time, the show already seems to be past that stage. This is, as he said, the reason why Nick’s seeming end was immediately debunked by the use of the stick.
Still, there seems to be more to the stick than what the show has revealed and this, according to the actor, is part of the major elements that would be at play for the upcoming sixth season.
“Nick and the Scooby Gang are still discovering the potential of this stick, right along with the viewers,” the actor said. “Nick survived a barrage of bullets through his chest and only he knows he’s invincible at this point. But we don’t know much more, like what kind of evil this stick could be used for if it falls into the wrong hands. He just puts that crazy stick back in his pocket. Is he going to tell the rest of the gang? We’ll see.”
In other news, “Grimm” star Bitsie Tulloch revealed in a recent post on her official Twitter account that the writers for the show recently began working on the new season.
Season 6 of “Grimm” is expected to premiere later this year.
