The 13th season of the American medical drama, “Grey’s Anatomy” is nearing its premiere, and with the latest news that the very first episode will be about Jo (Camilla Luddington) and Alex (Justine Chambers) resolving their relationship issues, there is a mixture of reaction from the fans of the show.
Some are perplexed about the prospect that the lead character Dr. Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) might not even be making an appearance, at least in the first episode, while others are excited to see how Alex will accept the fact that Jo cannot marry him. To recall, the finale of season 12 gave fans a heartbreaker as the two were on the verge of ending their romance.
Per Moviefone, the upcoming season premiere will definitely focus on Alex and Jo and that it could very well spark more intrigue to a show that’s been running on ABC for a very long time. Meanwhile, Caterina Scorsone, who portrays Amelia in the series, revealed to Entertainment Weekly the same thing about Alex and Jo. “The season premiere picks up right where we left off, but expect the Alex and Jo storyline to play a bigger role in the season opener,” the 34-year-old Canadian actress said.
Meanwhile, with the news about the lead character’s absence in the first episode, rumors now have it that Meredith may not even be making an appearance in the succeeding episodes and that viewers will only see here in the second half of the season. If this really is true, does it mean she no longer will be the main character in the season?
Well, it is one of those hard to believe speculations considering that the title of the series is based on Meredith’s namesake, plus the fact that she and another character, Maggie Pierce (Kelly McCreary) are rumored to be battling it out to win the heart of one man and that it could even go down to them actually making a fight out of it.
The new season of “Grey’s Anatomy” will make its premiere on ABC this coming September.
