Once again, “Grey’s Anatomy” has featured the love affair of Jackson (Jesse Williams) and April (Sarah Drew) for its latest episode. The first time was in season 12 episode 11, titled “JAPRIL: The Movie.”
Titled “JAPRIL: The Sequel,” the two doctors (and ex-couple) went to Montana for a medical mission after Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) bailed out and after Catherine (Debbie Allen) appointed April to come along instead.
“We’re forced to be in the same space, working on a case together, in an unfamiliar location without any distractions or any of the normal life stuff surrounding us.” said Drew to Entertainment Weekly.
At the Treasure State hospital, a throat transplant was scheduled, but the donor suddenly declined. The young patient had two more options, to perform laryngectomy, which could save her life but lose her voice, or to transfer to a faraway hospital, but she might die along the way. The patient’s mom agreed to the first option after Jackson promised to save her daughter’s voice.
Jackson also planned to see his estranged father, but he chickened out.
After the surgery, instead of resting, the ex-couple had coitus. April convinced Jackson to make peace with his dad.
“I love it, because it’s an opportunity for April to really show up for him in a way I don’t think she has for him before,” Williams stated.
Meanwhile, the upcoming episode of the longest-running primetime show would be about the romance of Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) and Owen (Kevin McKidd). As the two are working on a trauma case, they are lashing out about their personal issues. Owen seems very confident that it was Amelia who ended their relationship.
On the other hand, Nathan (Martin Henderson) is getting much closer to Meredith now. Will they finally go on a date? Meanwhile, Miranda (Chandra Wilson) is off to mend her relationship with Richard (James Pickens Jr.).
“Diane Pierce (LaTanya Richardson Jackson) returns to Grey Sloan, but Maggie (Kelly McCreary) is still in the dark as to why she’s really there,” the synopsis reads.
The 13th season of “Grey’s Anatomy” will continue on March 23 on ABC.
