'Grey's Anatomy' season 13 episode 12 recap, news: Maggie's mom appears; series gets picked up for a new season

ABC’s long-running series “Grey’s Anatomy” has returned for its season finale. The episode titled “None of Your Business” tackles on forgiveness, bad timing, and old stews.

In season 13 episode 12, it was revealed that Alex (Justin Chambers) has got away with his jail time. He’s about to take the plea, but Andrew (Giacomo Gianniotti) came and told him that he dropped the case. Then, the former asked for forgiveness. It appeared that Andrew has made the decision because he didn’t want Jo (Camilla Luddington) to be away from Alex. Miranda (Chandra Wilson) reinstated Alex in the hospital.

Back in Seattle Grace Hospital, Dr. Eliza Minnick (Marika Dominczyk) wanted her students to enter the operating room, but the doctors silently disagreed. Meredith (Ellen Pompeo), as chief of surgery, refused Eliza’s request, but Miranda suspended the former instead.

Meanwhile, Maggie (Kelly McCreary) was shocked to find her mom, Diane (LaTanya Richardson Jackson), at the hospital, where Diane has a plastic surgery consultation with Jackson (Jesse Williams). Maggie, having an estranged relationship with Diane, was not happy seeing her mom getting along with her colleagues. During Diane’s checkup, Jackson found out that his patient has inflammatory breast cancer.

Planning to break the news to her daughter, Diane organized a small party at Maggie’s house. However, Maggie couldn’t contain it and yelled at her mom. So, Diane left unable to tell Maggie about her cancer.

In other news, Variety has learned that Ellen Pompeo-led medical drama “Grey’s Anatomy” has been picked up for another season, along with other two series.
