April (Sarah Drew) and Jackson (Jesse Williams) have ended their marriage.
In Thursday’s episode of ABC’s long-running medical drama series “Grey’s Anatomy,” the show shone the spotlight on April Kepner and Jackson Avery, following the two from when they first met as interns at Mercy West all the way through to their current marital issues. The flashback-heavy episode covered the many ups and downs of their relationship, including the loss of their son, Samuel, and how they individually grieved afterwards, and ended with April deciding to finally sign their divorce papers. The episode also revealed that April is pregnant again, and that she hasn’t told Jackson.
On finally agreeing to the divorce, Drew told Entertainment Weekly, “I don’t think she went through with it, as much as I think he demanded it and she had to respond.”
Given April’s long and difficult fight to save her marriage, how will her pregnancy affect her relationship with Jackson? Could the two possibly put the divorce aside and get back together?
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Drew talked about whether or not April knew she was pregnant before signing the divorce papers, the “sketchy” way she will be dealing with her pregnancy, and what’s in store for April and Jackson.
Speaking about the latest episode, the actress said, “I think it ends in a very hopeful light but it’s not going to be pretty in the near future.”
The actress, who admitted that the episode’s timeline doesn’t clarify whether or not April knew she was pregnant before she signed the divorce papers, also said that the issue will be “solidified” in the following episode and that fans should anticipate April making some questionable decisions.
According to Drew, April will be approaching this new pregnancy with a “completely different perspective.” “In some ways, the way April approaches it is incredibly brave and strong and then in other ways, it’s a little sketchy,” the actress said with a laugh.
“I think people will have different opinions about the way she approaches this pregnancy. Some people will be in one camp and some will be in another,” she revealed.
Will April hide her pregnancy from Jackson?
“You’ll have to wait and see,” Drew said.
“Grey’s Anatomy” airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. on ABC.
