There is a new “Gran Turismo” game coming to town and fans of the franchise can’t wait for its release since the developers have claimed that it will be the most innovative game in the franchise. Polyphony Digital CEO and Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi recently talked about “Gran Turismo Sport” and the company’s struggles with former iterations of the video game.
In an interview with IGN, Yamauchi shared his struggles in creating “Gran Turismo” during the time that the PlayStation 3 was still the leading console. Talking about the hardships that his team went through in developing “Gran Turismo 6,” he said, “The conditions for GT6 were really against us, mainly because the PlayStation 3 hardware was a very difficult piece of hardware to develop for, and it caused our development team a lot of stress.”
Despite that difficult period, the creator has showed much enthusiasm for the next game in the series, “Gran Turismo Sport,” which is being built for the PlayStation 4.
“Compared to that the PS4 is a piece of hardware that really has the ability to answer to our expectations,” Yamauchi revealed. “I’ve said this over and over again but this, ‘Gran Turismo Sport,’ it really has the level of innovation you haven’t seen since ‘Gran Turismo 1’ and we’re having a lot of fun developing it, and we’re discovering a lot of things as we develop it.”
As such, “Gran Turismo Sport” is expected to set the bar high for the franchise and it will be unlike other racing games.
It was also mentioned that Yamauchi also wants players to experience the reward of their performance in the game by having a real racer license. Some of the fans think that it may be overboard, but gaining a license because of how great the performance of the driver may actually be innovative. It may also be possible since the game will be supported by virtual reality (VR).
Furthermore, there will also be a realistic feel to the cars since the developers may have applied the “less is more” principle. The cars aren’t very glamorous in terms of the design, but it is said to be more polished in terms of performance.
There is still no exact release date for “Gran Turismo Sport” but it will be launched sometime in November,
