GoPro HERO releases October 4; sets at budget-friendly $199

Fans of GoPro will soon be able to purchase the company’s newest entry-level action camera, the GoPro HERO+.

Priced at only $199.99 with free shipping and money back guarantee when ordered through the GoPro online shop, the HERO+ is significantly cheaper than the other cameras released by the company. For instance, the HERO4 Silver is priced at $399.99, while the HERO4 Black is at $499.99.

According to the company’s website, the HERO+ “captures immersive 1080p60 video and 8MP photos and features Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, which provide access to the GoPro App and Smart Remote.” The official app lets users control their device remotely, play back content, preview pictures, and shoot short video clips through other devices such as a phone or tablet. These clips can then be uploaded to YouTube, Facebook, and other social networking sites.

In addition to these features, the newly released GoPro is waterproof at 131′ or 40m as well. The website listed that the camera can survive harsh conditions, so the camera can be used underwater, in the desert, or pretty much anywhere.

Carrying the HERO+ everywhere is possible because of its lightweight design. Weighing just 4.3 ounces, the camera is compact, so it can be mounted to headgears or placed safely inside pockets and bags.

SuperView is also available in this model of GoPro. The exclusive video format makes wide-angle shots possible without sacrificing background or surroundings.

Moreover, as reported by The Verge’s Dante D’Orazio, the new entry-level device that has Wi-Fi (HERO+LCD) connectivity is like the base model but it is much better when it comes to camera equipment. “That means you’ll be able to record at resolutions up to 1080p at 60fps, compared to just 30fps on the entry-level Hero+.”

Starting October 4, 2015 the HERO+ will be available for order online and purchase at authorized retail stores worldwide.
