GoPro is rumored to be getting ready for the release of two major devices this year, specifically the Karma Drone and the GoPro Hero 5. The former is said to be coming in the first half of the year, around May or June, while the latter is speculated to be released in the next half of 2016, around October.
Last year, the GoPro Hero 5 was speculated to be launched early 2016. However, reports suggest that the company will first focus on the Karma Drone, while the GoPro Hero 5 will come in time for Thanksgiving and the holiday season.
Some of the features anticipated for the upcoming outdoor camera include portability, connectivity, and a more seamless use. GoPro Hero 5 is expected to be around 50 percent smaller and 40 percent lighter than its predecessor. It is also said to focus on connectivity, most likely through cloud-based storage as well as an improved Bluetooth functionality. It is also expected to be compatible with the Karma Drone that can further enhance the overall experience of users.
Aside from these, other rumored improvements include 8K video quality, a dual lens camera for better photo outputs, and the capability to shoot 60 frames per second. The GoPro Hero 5 is also anticipated to have an even better waterproof features, which may withstand up to 60 meters deep.
To keep up with the enhancements, the GoPro Hero 5 is also said to be having a more powerful chipset, as well as longer battery life that is said to last up to 24 hours with single charge.
Meanwhile, Fool believes that the GoPro Hero 5 and the Karma Drone may be the company’s strategies to get them back on track within their sales target. The report revealed that the stocks of the company dipped as high as 80 percent over the past year because of lower sales and the poor product launches.
However, given that the features are just speculations at the moment, the public will still have to wait for the actual launch date to confirm if the devices are indeed worth waiting for.
