Fans of GoPro’s action cameras are still anticipating the follow up to the GoPro Hero 4. Reports have said that the GoPro Hero 5 will have significant improvements, compared to its predecessor.
The last product that was released by the company was the GoPro Hero Session but it did not really do well in the market compared to GoPro Hero 4. Nick Woodman, GoPro’s CEO, has admitted that consumers were initially confused about its form factor and as such, the camera did not have the kind of response that GoPro expected. That is probably the reason why the company is now stepping up their game. The CEO has mentioned that one improvement that they will focus on is the connection of the camera to mobile devices. It seems that they will also make sure the connection to cloud-based storage will be seamless.
There are rumors that the action camera could feature a dual-lens set-up, which will be a first for action cameras and will surely attract a lot of customers. The dual-lens feature will also give users the capability to shoot 3D video clips.
In terms of the design of the latest action camera, the CEO has mentioned, “future GoPros will be increasingly simpler, with fewer parts. Our goal is to make it very easy for our customers to make the decision to pick up a GoPro and use it. That’s all about simplicity, efficiency, and making the user experience as seamless and invisible as possible.”
The company may also be prioritizing the battery life of the action camera since it has always been a concern of any gadget consumer. It is suggested that they may make use of a 2,800 mAh battery. The battery will be capable of running for two hours with the highest setting possible, which is the 8K resolution..
The price of the GoPro Hero 5 may vary from $450 to $550. The release date has not been confirmed but fans are anticipating it to be launched this October.
