Top Chinese mobile developer Huawei may still be in the game of developing Google Nexus smartphones, as the company has been recently rumored to still be working on yet another Nexus smartphone, simply dubbed as of now as the Nexus 2016. This would be the third Nexus smartphone that has been rumored, with the first two coming from Taiwanese mobile developer HTC.
In the past few weeks, there had been rumors about HTC making the new and upcoming Google Nexus smartphones, the tech giant’s flagship smartphone carrying the latest Android software out of the box. There had been two variants rumored, which had also been the case for last year’s release of the Nexus 5X and the Nexus 6P. However, this time, the two phones are both rumored to be in development at HTC, unlike last year’s case where the two Nexus smartphones were developed by LG and Huawei.
However, as per the latest rumor report, it seems that Huawei would still be making a Nexus phone for the Android Nougat operating system (OS). Latest reports show a certain unknown Huawei device, with codes H1621 and H1622. To recall, the Huawei Nexus 6P variants had model numbers H1511 and H1512. The similarities in the model code numbers of the smartphones have led people to speculate that this might be a new Nexus phone.
However, in the leaked photos, the device showed both similarities and differences with a Nexus smartphone. One of the most noticeable differences is that it does not have the iconic Nexus branding on the back. But still, it has the same rear fingerprint scanner, the same one that the previous Nexus 6P had.
Another Nexus device that had been long rumored to be coming from Google is the first ever Google Nexus smartwatch. All rumored Nexus smartphones are expected to be released sometime around fall this year alongside the full public release of the new Android Nougat 7.0 OS.
