'Girl Meets World' season 3 updates: next season will see more of Josh, will be an 'even better season'

Even if the Disney show “Girl Meets World” is yet to wrap up its second season, fans are already looking forward to season 3, which will reportedly delve deeper into the lives of the characters.

The central theme of season 2 is how best friends Riley (Rowan Blanchard) and Maya (Sabrina Carpenter) ended up liking the same guy, Lucas (Peyton Meyer). They have constantly been entangled in a love triangle, but in season 3, fans will get to know the characters in a different storyline.

On the Twitter account of the show’s writers, they revealed, “Relationships aside, BMW went to high school and a good show got better. Scripts in, same happening here. More Zay, more Smackle, more Josh.”

Fans are generally excited with the news, with some requesting for their personal bet on the character’s love lives. Some fans, on the other hand, are simply excited over the news that there will be more of Josh’s (Uriah Shelton) character, while others are still banking on a Maya-Lucas love story.

Josh, who is Riley’s uncle and Cory’s (Ben Savage) brother, was initially introduced in season 1, where Maya had a big crush on him. Fans will see more of him in season 3 as a freshman schoolmate of Maya and Riley when they enter high school.

Back in November, when the show was announced for a season 3 renewal, Adam Bonnett, Executive Vice President of Disney Channels Worldwide, expressed how Michael Jacobs, executive producer and one of the show’s creator, has become “one of the most authentic voices in television today,” noted The Wrap.

Bonnett anticipates that the third season “will not only continue to entertain families but also help kids discover who they are and who they want to be in this world.”

The production of “Girl Meets World” season 3 is expected to start this month and is anticipated to air in spring.
