Season 3 of Disney Channel’s hit sitcom “Girl Meets World” will have two installments featuring best friends Riley (Rowan Blanchard) and Maya (Sabrina Carpenter) defying the requests and advice of their respective families.
Titled “Girl Meets Her Monster,” episode 16 has Riley skipping out on helping Topanga (Danielle Fishel) at the bakery. It turns out that she will choose to stay at home and binge-watch her favorite TV show. Topanga, as expected, will not be pleased upon finding out what her daughter has done.
Down the line, episode 17 dubbed “Girl Meets Hollyworld” will have Maya scheming to sabotage another actress so that her mom, Katy (Cheryl Texiera), will get a role in an upcoming movie. She is predicted to go to great lengths and possibly even kidnap the star. However, it remains to be seen if she will be successful in doing so.
The series’ writers succinctly teased the two episodes on Twitter, saying, “Two mothers cause two teenage girls hurt, pain and humiliation just because Riley is selfish and Maya kidnaps a movie star. GMW: November.”
They also followed it up with another hint on the future narrative, stating, “Eric Matthews [Will Friedle] is running for president. We’re saved. #stranger together #make America grape again #his running mate is WHO??”
On a related note, the fate of the show beyond its third season is still up in the air as Disney has yet to comment if they are renewing or canceling it.
Rumors have it that the cancellation may have been brought about by the resolution to the love triangle between Riley, Maya and Lucas (Peyton Meyer). Apparently, fans were not happy that Riley and Lucas ended up together. Some suggest that Lucas should be with Maya while Riley pairs up with Farkle (Corey Fogelmanis).
Season 3 episode 16 is slated to air this Friday, Nov. 4 at 8:30 p.m. ET. It will be followed by episode 17 on Nov. 25 at the same time.
