The third season of Disney Channel’s teen sitcom, “Girl Meets World” is at full throttle as of late. However, its fate still hangs in the balance as the network has yet to announce if the show will be renewed for another season.
Fans of the teen comedy series are pretty much aware that the show’s ensemble of stars is not getting any younger and since it is being aired on a youth-oriented channel, the network might have thought that delving into more mature themes would be unfit for the Disney Channel’s core audience provided that there would indeed be a season 4.
Albeit Disney’s silence regarding the cancellation rumors, the actors have already expressed their sentiments about it and added that they are fine taking the show up a notch as it currently tackles a complicated love triangle involving Lucas (Peyton Meyer), Riley (Rowan Blanchard) and Maya (Sabrina Carpenter).
It was also previously publicized that if cancellation rumors would turn out to be true, young fans need not fret as it is speculated that the showrunners will be tapping the services of ABC’s cable network, Freeform, whose target audience is those aged 14 to 34.
The show’s current installment will run up until next year and the final episode is said to be dubbed as “Girl Meets Goodbye.” This has given fans the impression that season 3 will indeed be the last for “Girl Meets World.”
It is rumored that Disney’s executives have yet to decide whether to give the showrunners the green light in developing another season for the show.
Meanwhile, in other news, Blanchard is said to be part of an upcoming film adaptation of “A Wrinkle in Time” which will be top-billed by actors such as Chris Pine, Reese Witherspoon and Zach Galifianakis.
