The tension between best friends Riley (Rowan Blanchard) and Maya (Sabrina Carpenter) will only get more intense in the brand new episode of “Girl Meets World”. It turns out to be that Riley feels that Maya has undergone some significant changes since entering high school, which has caused them to drift away from each other.
This week’s episode, dubbed as “Girl Meets Triangle,” appears to be in no connection with the love line between the best friends and Lucas (Peyton Meyer), who is put in the middle. Fans of the show have yet to fully get a resolution from the conflict since it started last season. And this is despite show creator Michael Jacobs promising that the situation will gradually be resolved.
Instead, the forthcoming episode seems to be leaning more towards Maya’s search for her personal identity and the possibility that her closeness to Riley may be hindering it. As shown in the teaser trailer for the aforementioned episode, Maya’s art teacher implies that her artworks look like they are not her own but something that has Riley’s stamp all over it. Riley, on the other hand, starts to become suspicious of her best bud citing that Maya having great grades seems to be outside of her “rebel” character. Beyond this week’s episode, it looks like this story arc will be in play for the next few weeks as episode 7 is dubbed “Girl Meets True Maya.”
Jacobs has also previously revealed that stepping into high school will take a toll on the girls, especially with all the adjustments and changes happening to them and around them. Furthermore, fans can only expect for things to potentially be more complicated as the showrunner aims to give a spot-on portrayal of one of the most important developmental stages in a person’s life.
The official synopsis for the upcoming installment reads, “Maya’s identity crisis kicks into full gear when her art teacher makes her realize her friendship with Riley may be affecting her artist’s voice.”
“Girl Meets World” season 3 episode 5 airs this Friday night, at 7:30 p.m. ET on the Disney Channel.
