After listing the handset without pricing details for a month, the new Pioneer series from Gionee called the P5W is finally up for grabs at Rs 6,499 or $95.
Gionee P5W comes with a 5-inch HD IPS Oncell display at 720×1280 pixel resolutions. The device is powered by an octa-core MediaTek MT6735 chipset, along with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage that can be expanded through a microSD of up to 128GB.
Likewise, the smartphone has a 5-megapixel main camera with autofocus and LED flash features, complemented by a 2-megapixel secondary shooter. The Gionee P5W carries a 2,000mAh battery and comes with Amigo 3.1 out of the box, which is said to be based on Android 5.1 Lollipop.
The new smartphone comes with 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, and micro USB 2.0 connectivity options. It also includes other features such as accelerometer, ambient light sensor, digital compass, and proximity sensor.
Aside from these, Gionee P5W‘s sound output is expected to be good with its DTS 3D surround sound tech. As for its security feature, the device boasts the new AMI lock feature that simply scans the user’s face for easier, faster, and safer access, and is expected unlock in just 0.5 seconds if matched.
For buyers who are more inclined to buy the traditional and more conservative color options, Gionee P5W has black and white as choices. On the other hand, for other buyers who prefer to have a more colorful smartphone, they may choose among blue, red, or yellow.
Considering Gionee P5W‘s specifications and price range, the said device is considered an entry-level smartphone. The new device is launched in India, just before Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 3 is released in the country. Meanwhile, compared to the previously launched Xiaomi device, the Redmi 2 Prime, the price ranges of the two devices are more or less at the same array.
