“Gilmore Girls” fans are counting down the days until the revival hits Netflix later this month, and many cannot wait to see mother and daughter team Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and Rory (Alexis Bledel) again after the two were last seen in the 2007 finale. But apart from the fast-talking duo, fans can also expect to see more of Gilmore matriarch Emily, played by Kelly Bishop, and in the revival, the character will be going through some difficult adjustments after the death of her husband, Richard (Edward Hermann).

Speaking with E! Online, Bishop previewed what Emily will be going through in “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life,” revealing that her character will be dealing with the loss of her husband.

“She has different adventures, some of them are funny, some of them are sad,” said the actress. “She’s just kind of plodding along trying to find herself, how she does it now, what it means.”

In the official trailer, Emily appears to be getting rid of some of her things while keeping the memory of her late husband alive by hanging a huge painting of him by the fireplace. Later, she tells her daughter that she doesn’t know how to be alone as she has been married for 50 years and that it feels like half of her is gone.

Emily appears to be having an estate sale as she tells Lorelai that she’s decluttering her life. It also looks like she has read organization expert Marie Kondo’s book as she tells her daughter, “If it brings you joy you keep it, and if it doesn’t, out it goes.”

But the greatest surprise about Emily in the sneak peek is her clothes. “Gilmore Girls” fans know that the matriarch has always favored the classic combination of skirts, suits, and pearls, and in the trailer, Emily is wearing a pair of jeans and a Candies t-shirt, and the outfit is something that she has never been seen in before.

Emily’s new outfit became the talk of the internet, and Bishop told E! that the jeans and t-shirt ensemble “was meant to be rather shocking.”

“It was something that was supposed to really surprise people, but I guess they enjoyed it so much that they made you talk about it,” said the actress.

“Gilmore Girls: A Day in the Life” premieres on Nov. 25 on Netflix.
