As the reboot of the “Ghostbusters” film franchise with an all-female cast wraps up production, more details about film are surfacing online.
On his Twitter account, director Paul Feig said, “It’s a wrap on Ghostbusters!!!” The tweet was accompanied by a picture of three Ghostbuster Funko Pops!
According to The Hollywood Reporter, members of the original Ghostbusters will make a cameo in Sony’s reboot. It was confirmed in August that Bill Murray will appear in the Paul Feig movie despite Murray’s earlier reservations about doing a third “Ghostbusters” film.
Likewise, Ernie Hudson will be in the movie. Although he told The Telegraph before that an all-female team would be a bad idea and that the fans might not want to see something like that, he changed his mind and said that the cast is phenomenal.
Feig confirmed this via his Twitter on September 20 saying, “Thanks to the great Ernie Hudson for joining us on our last day of production. He is a class act and an incredibly talented and funny man.” However, it is unknown if he will reprise his role as Winston Zeddemore. Sony refused to comment on the casting.
In the 1984 “Ghostbuster” and 1989 “Ghostbusters 2” films, the original team was played by Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and Ernie Hudson. Also in the movies were Sigourney Weaver who played Dana Barrett, Rick Moranis as Louis Tully, and Annie Potts as Janine Melnitz.
“Ghostbusters 3” will star Kate McKinnon (Jillian Holtzmann), Leslie Jones (Patty Tolan), Melissa McCarty (Abby Yates), and Kristen Wiig (Erin Gilbert). Chris Hemsworth (Kevin) will play the role of the team’s receptionist. Also in the reboot are Neil Casey, Michael K. Williams, Andy Garcia, and Matt Walsh.
Though slated on July 22, 2016, the release of the film was moved ahead to July 15.
