Previously, Rod Fergusson, Gears of War co-creator and studio head of developing company The Coalition, announced that the upcoming Gears of War: Ultimate Edition won’t include the old fan favourite Horde Mode. This was announced at a panel during the San Diego Comic-Con event, with the developer’s desire not to make the upcoming game feel like a direct sequel to Gears of War 2.

In Horde Mode, players of two or more will face-off with a series of enemies that comes in hordes, with the aim to overwhelm them.

It was also announced that newer box sets of Xbox One consoles would be coming bundled with a free copy of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition.

Gears of War: Ultimate Edition will be released for the Xbox One on August 25.
