'Gears of War 4' DLC news: Ugly Sweater DLC, Snowball fight mode released

With the “Gears of War 4” celebrating the holidays, the game has a new Gearsmas pack that includes icy Boomshots, as well as snowball fights and crossplay functionalities.

According to Game Rant, its annual holiday tradition of Gearsmas will allow players to buy its Gearsmas pack for 400 credits or $1 from Dec. 16 to Jan. 4. This will include a random selection of presents from 28 possible gifts. Aside from that, there will be two special gifts that will be given on specific dates as well as bonus XP to all players.

Purchasing a pack will give the players one bounty with an addition of two holiday presents picked from the collection list for Gearsmas. The possible presents include three Ugly Gearsmas Armor characters (JD, Kait, and Swarm Drone), four Gingerbread Weapon skins, four Festive Tree Weapon skins, four Snowman Weapon skins, four JD Wrapping Paper Weapon skins, four Swarm Wrapping Paper Weapon skins, and a Commemorative Gearsmas Emblem.

Aside from the skins that give the weapons a Christmas Tree Gift look, players will also have ugly sweater skins. Furthermore, players who logged in on Dec. 16 received the Chuzzmas Emblem, while players who will log in on Dec. 27 will get a Boomshot that fires icicles.

The Gearsmas event also has the Snowball Fight Mode, according to the University Herald. In this mode, players can use the Snowshot to shoot each other, but each player only receives two snowballs initially. However, more snowballs can be found throughout the game.

Finally, Microsoft has once again added the Crossplay Versus to “Gears of War 4,” which means that Xbox players can now join a squad with Windows 10 players for matches.

“Gears of War 4” is one of 2016’s best selling games, and it has received a generally positive response from both gamers and critics alike. It has sold more than 617,000 copies in its first week alone, and with its current pace, the game is expected to have a consistent base of loyal players.
