Gears of War fans have a fourth installment to look forward to, while a beta version exclusive for the Xbox One will be released next year.
However, Games Radar said, one has to first purchase the Gears of War: Ultimate Edition plus Xbox One bundle.
According to the article, players who purchase the Xbox One bundle, which is set to come out next month, will be able to get exclusive early access to the beta when it comes out in Spring of next year. To qualify, they have to log in to their Xbox Live account every time that they play any of the games in the bundle.
In addition, they have to take those steps before March 1, 2016.
Gears of War is a highly successful survivor horror franchise that was first developed by Epic Games, but was acquired by Microsoft in January last year. According to its official website, the game lets the player take on the role of ex-hero Marcus Fenix and lead a team to survive attacks from the Locust Horde.
Microsoft’s Xbox chief Phil Spencer raised the hype in December last year when he announced on Twitter that the development team behind Gears of War 4 is making massive progress as reported by Game Spot.
Spencer also clarified in October that Gears of War 4 will not be a reboot, and told IGN that the franchise basically doesn’t need that yet. Instead, the Microsoft executive said that they are going to try and go back to the franchise’s roots with the new game.
“Gears 2 did well, Gears 3 did well. So I thought the franchise continued to grow. But we’ve talked about getting back to something … I think the story and the setting and what they’re going through … We’ve got to get back to that. The feeling of those individuals,” Spencer told IGN.
