Is Jon Snow (Kit Harington) about to find love in season 7 of “Game of Thrones?” After being brought back from the dead by Melisandre (Carice van Houten), being reunited with half-sister Sansa (Sophie Turner), taking down Ramsay Bolton (Iwan Rheon), and being declared King of the North in season 6, it appears that the former Lord Commander could be too busy preparing to fight the White Walkers next season, but according to latest rumors, it’s possible that Jon could have a new love interest when the show returns.
Last week, the Daily Mail published some photos taken from the set of the HBO series in Northern Ireland which features Harington, Gwendoline Christie (Brienne), and Liam Cunningham (Ser Davos) dressed in matching grey costumes. It was claimed that the actors were preparing to film a battle scene, and a girl identified as Turner’s double was also photographed wearing a grey gown.
However, fan site Watchers on the Wall (WoW) said that it’s unlikely that the actress, who was identified as Megan Parkinson, is Turner’s double as the character is wearing a sword belt, and fans are aware that Sansa is not trained to fight with a sword. Moreover, it was pointed out that back in June, first casting notices for season 7 included one for a 16-year-old Northern girl character, and it’s likely that Parkinson could be playing that role. According to the actress’ IMDb page, Parkinson is slated to appear in the season premiere of the upcoming installment, though her role wasn’t revealed in the listing.
Gamesradar speculates that the actress could play Jon Snow’s new love interest based on the fact that she has scenes with Harington. However, WoW reported that Parkinson could be playing the show’s version of Alys Karstark.
In George R.R. Martin’s “A Song of Ice and Fire” books, Alys met Robb and Jon in Winterfell when she was just six years old. Her betrothed, Daryn Hornwood and her brothers were killed by Jaime Lannister. After several years, Alys makes her way to the Wall to speak to Jon after escaping from her cousin Cregan Karstark. Cregan’s father wanted her to marry Cregan so that he would become the Lord of Karhold. Jon agrees to help her, and when Cregan arrives at the Wall, Jon had him locked in a cell.
“Game of Thrones” season 7 premieres in summer 2017 on HBO.
