'Game of Thrones' season 7 air date, spoilers: Is Jon Snow getting a new love interest?

There’s no question that Jon Snow (Kit Harington) has been through a lot. He has seen his wildling lover Ygritte (Rose Leslie) die after getting shot through the chest by a raw recruit. The recruit, Olly (Brenock O’Connor), also played a major role in Jon’s murder at the hands of his sworn brothers.

Talk about a double whammy. Fortunately, Jon was resurrected by Melisandre (Carice van Houten). Is Jon ever going to find some semblance of happiness again?

Rumors that Jon might be getting a new love interest this upcoming season have been circulating lately since a new cast member was spotted on set. Sources initially thought that actress Megan Parkinson was going to be Sansa’s (Sophie Turner) body double. However, “Game of Thrones” fan site Watchers on the Wall pointed out that Parkinson might be playing a different character because her costume was quite different from Sansa’s.

Parkinson is also shorter than Turner, so it is going to be difficult to pass her off as a double. The site also speculated that she might be playing Alys Karstark, or a new character altogether.

Sources seem to believe that Parkinson’s character is going to be Jon’s love interest since they had scenes together, and they were also spotted hugging after filming. Of course, there is absolutely no proof that the character is going to be Jon’s love interest. Jon has a lot of scenes with Sansa, but they aren’t lovers, are they? Jon/Sansa shippers, please hold that thought.

Nevertheless, the lack of evidence hasn’t stopped people from speculating. An article on Bustle suggests that Parkinson may be playing Alys and she may marry Jon to cement his claim to the North. The publication also theorized that Parkinson may be anyone from one of Arya’s (Maisie Williams) disguises to Willow Heddle. It should be noted that these are simply theories and they are in no way facts.

“Game of Thrones” season 7 will premiere in summer 2017.
