Vin Diesel shared a fan-made movie poster for the highly anticipated eighth installment in the action drama franchise “Fast and Furious.”
The actor took it to his official Facebook account to share the image which features himself as his character Dominic Toretto standing alone beside a car while looking at a distance. It is accompanied by words that read, “New roads ahead.”
Some fans claim that the image seemingly hints on the absence of one of the main characters as Toretto looks like he is longing for his film’s best friend and co-star, the late Paul Walker who portrayed Brian. The text continues with, “Furious 8. April 14. In Theaters and IMAX.”
Diesel previously honored the late actor during People’s Choice Awards stating that, “You know, as I was coming up here I always do this, I say, ‘I’m not gonna get emotional about winning these awards,’ and I was cool while I was sitting in my seat, and then, they handed me two awards one for favorite action movie and one for favorite film. You all thought that this was your favorite film. So, I think of Dom (his character) and Brian (Paul’s character), and I start to think of Paul.”
Aside from Diesel, it was revealed previously that the regular mainstays Michelle Rodriguez, Jason Statham, and Dywane Johnson are returning to reprise their roles. Meanwhile joining the franchise are Hollywood A-listers Charlize Theron and Scott Eastwood alongside “Game of Thrones”actor Kristofer Hivju.
Taking the helm is “Straight Outta Compton” director F. Gary Gray who shared his excitement over the news saying, “I could not have asked for better partners than Vin Diesel, Neal H. Moritz, & the Universal Studios Entertainment family. Together we are excited to bring you the next chapter in the Fast & Furious saga. #FastFamily”
“Furious 8” will be the first entry into a trilogy and will be followed by “Fast 9” on April 19, 2019 and “Fast 10” on April 2, 2021.
