Frozen 2 plot news: Sequel may delve into Elsa's childhood and how she got her powers

Since Disney announced that hit animated film “Frozen” will have a sequel, the studio has been keeping mum on the details regarding the plot, but rumors have it that the highly anticipated installment will revolve more around the queen of Arendelle.

Speculations suggest that with the original movie depicting Anna’s childhood without her sister Elsa being available, the plot will flashback on the moments that the latter spent in isolation to give viewers a better understanding of her magical journey. What added to the speculation is the confirmed reprisal by Broadway singer Idina Menzel of the role that made her a household name.

The backstory of how she gets hold of her extraordinary ability may also be explained. Viewers will remember her father telling the trolls that she was born with it and not due to some curses. The patriarch’s claim on how he was certain that his daughter is not cursed may be given explanation in the second film. With the possibility that her power is due to genetics, other family relatives may also be introduced.

Meanwhile, when it comes to the present time, Elsa is predicted to loosen up her strict and formal demeanor and become more like her carefree and adventurous younger sister. Following the transformation seen in Disney’s short “Frozen Fever,” “In Frozen she had such a dramatic journey, and at the end she’s just starting to feel like she can open up and have some fun again. That’s what was really good about the shortwe could have fun with Elsa. And that personality…you will see in the next one,” director Chris Buck reportedly said.

Aside from Menzel, returning to the franchise as voice actors are Kirsten Bell, Jonathan Groff and Josh Gad with Jennifer Lee helping in penning the script. Although the storyline is not finished yet, Buck teased that the ending is going to be terrific.

Disney has yet to set a release date for Frozen 2.
