Fans simply cannot “let it go” with regards to formulating theories and speculating about the upcoming sequel of the Best Animated Feature, Frozen.
One of the questions that fans have is regarding the origin of Elsa’s (Idina Menzel) power. Given that Elsa has her powers since birth, is it hereditary, giving Anna (Kristen Bell) a “secret” power too? Some speculations of this superpower include tremendous strength, as she was able to knock the wolves out when she and Kristoff (Jonathan Groff) were on their way to the ice castle as well as punch Hans (Santino Fontana) to the floor towards the end of the story. Co-director Chris Buck acknowledged that Anna has a power, but it seems like an abstract one when he said “Her superpower is love. That’s Anna’s superpower.” He elaborated “You know, like a mama bear can raise a car off their kid with their super strength, love is very powerful,” notes HitFix.
Meanwhile, there are also several speculations regarding a possible link of Frozen to other popular animated film. One heavily rumored link is that of Tarzan and Frozen, where Elsa and Anna’s parents did not die but ended up in a jungle, and later on gave birth to a baby boy, who became Tarzan. On the other hand, there are also theories on the link between Frozen and the classic Rapunzel story, as well as Tangled, because of the characters’ appearance at Elsa’s coronation. There are also guesses that Rapunzel is cousins with Elsa and Anna and that the King’s fears were based on his niece’s kidnapping, to which, co-director Lee said, “Fascinating. I love that one. That’s all I’ll say. Their imaginations are wonderful!” Meanwhile Chris Buck added, “I think we just need to get these people in the story room with us. They have some amazing ideas,” notes HitFix.
It is unclear whether these will influence the storyline of Frozen 2. In the meantime, fans will just have to wait for further revelations regarding the sequel. Frozen 2 is rumored to be out on the big screen after 2018.
