Things continue to look up for Chip and Joanna Gaines. The couple’s HGTV show “Fixer Upper” received its first Emmy nomination.
According to a report from Wide Open Country, the show was nominated last week for best structured reality program. After the announcement, HGTV sent their warm congratulations through Twitter. “Today is a good day for an #Emmy nomination! Congrats #FixerUpper, up for Best Structured Reality Program! @chippergaines @joannagaines,” posted the network.
The show is currently preparing for a fifth season that will premiere later this year. It also managed to steadily hold ground in terms of ratings. Meanwhile, Pop Sugar reported that the show will go up against three other reality programs for the award. Also nominated are “Lip Sync Battle,” “Antiques Roadshow,” “Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives,” and “Shark Tank.”
“Shark Tank,” which airs on ABC, dominated the category in recent years. However, many expect “Fixer Upper” to put up a good fight.
In addition, Magnolia, which is owned by the Gaineses, also released a statement, sharing its excitement for the nomination. “Fixer Upper got an #EmmyNomination! So exciting! Congrats @chippergaines @joannagaines @hgtv and @highnoonEnt—this is big time! #FixerUpper,” it read.
The Emmy nomination comes on the heels of the couple’s celebration of their bakery’s first anniversary. According to a report from The Christian Post, The Gaineses remodeled Silos Baking Co. after acquiring the property last year. Originally built in the 1890s, the bakery has become a popular tourist spot in Waco since its reopening.
Joanna shared her happiness by posting some photos on her Facebook account. She posted pictures of the bakery surrounded by colorful balloons. The image also shows a huge sign saying, “I Never Met a Cupcake I Didn’t Like.” Moreover, she also captioned the photos, saying, “Happy 1st Birthday to the Silos Baking Co.!”
It is interesting to see if their recent success will continue on September 16 during the Creative Arts Emmy Awards ceremony takes place.
