Scott Cawthon, creator of the “Five Nights at Freddy’s” horror game franchise, announced in September that instead of a “Five Nights at Freddy’s 5,” he would be working on an RPG that utilizes the same characters but in a non-horror setting, and this would be called “Five Nights at Freddy’s World” or “FNaF World.”
“I wanted to use these characters in a new and fun way because they are so near and dear to my heart, and I was excited to work on a type of game that I hadn’t made in a long time,” Cawthon wrote on Steam in September. “The new game that I’m working on will be called FNAF World. It will not be a horror game, but a role playing game where you create a party using the huge selection of characters from the FNaF games, including the classic, withered, toy, phantom, and nightmare versions.”
A teaser trailer has been released, as Cawthon informed “FNaF” fans, “The scottgames.com teaser is complete and includes every character that you can have in your party! Stay tuned in the coming months for more updates as the game progresses!”
The gameplay reveals a bright and color theme park setting, where players can choose from the wide variety of “FNaF” characters and create a party and battle, all in a non-horror setting.
On his Steam community announcement page, Cawthon makes it clear that not only is there not going to be a “FNaF 5” but that his Halloween update and the new game will not add to it as “the story is complete.”
He wrote, “FNAF World will be released on PC, Android, and iOS. I don’t have an estimated release date yet since the game is still early in development.”
Looking back, the “Five Nights at Freddy’s” franchise has progressed quite speedily in just a year’s time, releasing four titles shortly between games. But it is notable that each title in the “FNaF” franchise has over 90 percent positive feedback ratings.
