'Final Fantasy XV' news, release date: magic system explained, new screenshot shows monster Marlboro

Just recently, a new screenshot for the upcoming action role-playing game Final Fantasy XV was released, and it features a classic monster from the series of RPG games.

As reported by Geek Snack, game developer Square Enix have released a new screenshot for their upcoming action RPG game, Final Fantasy XV, and it features a classic enemy from the older games, coming back for this generation still as powerful and probably more fearsome (as shown in the screenshot) than everthe Marlboro.

As can be seen in the screenshot, the Marlboro stands tall and mighty, looking all ready to launch an attack on the unsuspecting hero, with its signature attack Bad Breath also coming to the new game.

In an earlier report, Game Director Hajime Tabata shared how the magic mechanics will work in the new game. In an interview, Director Tabata revealed that unlike in most of the pervious Final Fantasy games, the magic in Final Fantasy XV would not work as an inherent “power” of characters. But rather, their magic will come from special rings that they will be wearing. Additionally, the source of magic in the game comes from the manipulation. There will be two types of magic, and one of them will be magic that is exclusively usable by characters from the Lucis family. Director Tabata said that the game’s magic is currently 60% complete, with everything about it “fully functional but it still leaves something to be desired in the visual department.”

While they cannot give a specific release date for now, Tabata did confirm in a previous interview that the game would be coming sometime around 2016.

“At the very least I can tell you that it’s not going to be released this year,” he said. “I think we’ll be able to tell you when we’re making the announcement around PAX, later this month.

“We can certainly say to people, it’s not going to be 2017. It’s going to be before that. We have got that solid plan laid out of how we want to continue releasing information for the game, and rest assured it is all on track. Certainly, we’d like to be able to tell you when we can make that announcement at PAX Prime at the end of this month.”
