'Final Fantasy VII' remake news: Square Enix to delve deeper on Biggs, Wedge, Jessie

The remake of the PlayStation 1 classic “Final Fantasy VII” is a well-received announcement. Since then, fans had been excited for more details about the remake. The first gameplay footage was released back at the recently held PlayStation Experience 2015, giving a taste of the highly improved graphics, more detailed gameplay, and an approach similar to an action RPG game.

In their appearance in the Japanese magazine Famitsuwith translation courtesy of Siliconeragame producer Yoshinori Kitase, director Tetsuya Nomura, and scenario writer Kazushige Nojima shared some details regarding the remake in development. A few of the details given were already revealed in recent reports, but a few others of interest were given away.

It was revealed that players will still be able to explore all the areas of Midgaror in other words, a World Map will be present. But will it be available pronto in the first installment? Since some parts of the World Map become unlocked as the game progresses, details about this were not given further.

Also, Square Enix wants to delve deeper into the characters of AVALANCHE members Biggs, Wedge, and Jessie (who, to the shock of some, is a girl after all). Since they are known to have met a not-so-good fate, it opens interest as to how deep the developers are going to focus on them.

The graphics are not the only thing that will be adapted from the “Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children” movie, but also the voice actors, as they are expected to give voice to the remake, too.

While it was clear that the remake of the game will be done in episodic chunks, Square Enix cannot say for sure as of the moment how many parts there will be. However, they said that the entire scenario for the first part is now completely written.

“Final Fantasy VII” remake is in development for the PlayStation 4.
