'Final Fantasy 15' release date, news: Pre-launch live stream announced, Square Enix reveals new gameplay details


Square Enix continues to deliver several promotional materials in preparation for the release of “Final Fantasy XV,” with the latest announcement detailing a pre-launch live stream as well as the unveiling of new game features.

According to Gematsu, the game developer will host a final live stream for the game on Nov. 28 from 8:30 p.m. JST to 15 minutes past midnight on Niconico. The event officially titled “‘Final Fantasy XV’ Launch Eve Official Community Special! Chasing the Secret of the Mystery Disc Passed to Development” will feature the appearance of the game’s voice actors, specifically Tatsuhisa Suzuki as Noctis, Rina Kitagawa as Lunafreya, MC Hatsune Matsushima alongside the development staff.

During the live stream event, fans can look forward to “‘Final Fantasy XV’ Eve Nico-Nama Campaign: ‘Smartphone de Camp!'” at 9:42 p.m., a playthrough of the special version “Mystery Discs” at 10:45 p.m. and a special countdown to midnight.

When it comes to the gameplay, Square Enix also showcased new features including the Shiva summon, sub-weapons, the Ability Call system and Altissia City.

Noctis can summon Shiva while in battle while weapons like shields, lances and machinery can be equipped for characters Gladiolus, Ignis and Prompto, respectively. Players can also configure them depending on the situation.

Moreover, Ability Call allows users to strengthen the character’s personal abilities and strength by accumulating and expending Ability Points. Many abilities can be acquired depending on actions performed as the system is divided into branches that will be based on the player’s preference.

Gamers can also explore the city of Altissia and discover its stylish landscape, ride gondolas and even travel around the location.

In addition, Gladiolus’ younger sister Iris Amicitia will make a guest appearance and fight in the game. Meanwhile, Lunafreya can become a playable character. However, it remains to be seen if it will come to fruition,

“Final Fantasy XV” is slated to be released on Nov. 29 for both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
