Eighteen-year-old singer and songwriter Camila Cabello insists that there is nothing going on between her and her friend, singer and songwriter Shawn Mendes. The two have been rumored to be dating since September last year.
Seventeen magazine got a chance to interview Cabello, who is featured on their March cover together with the other members of the all-girl singing group, Fifth Harmony.
When asked about the real score between her and the Vine sensation, Cabello said, “Shawn and I are great friends. That’s why we write so well together we have fun!”
When asked about relationship potentials, Cabello admitted, “If you meet somebody who you really like and they’re in the entertainment industry, you wouldn’t be like, Oh well, this might not turn out well. The thing is, artist boys are crazy. So when you have two people together, it’s a hurricane. It’s intense. It’s just these violent delights and violent ends. “
She also said that if she wants a stable relationship, “it’s probably better to date outside the industry. But you can’t help who you fall for. It’s our dating pool.”
She also revealed that Noah from the best-selling novel “The Notebook” is her ideal guy.
Both Cabello and Mendes have consistently denied allegations. However, speculations about the friends being more than what they admit to be intensified with the release of their song “I Know What You Did Last Summer.”
It is a song they co-wrote backstage at Levi’s Stadium during singer-songwriter Taylor Swift’s concert. On one of Swift’s “The 1989 World Tour” stops at Santa Clara, California, Fifth Harmony was the surprise guest and Mendes was the opening act.
The duet, which is included in Mendes’ album “Handwritten,” ranked 97 on Billboard Top 100 on Dec. 5 and reached Top 20 on Jan. 30. Their music video on Vevo’s channel on YouTube currently has more than 43 million views.
Seventeen’s March 2016 issue will be out on newsstands on Feb. 9.
