After seeing Dominic Toretto and Brian O’Conner part ways on the ending of Furious 7, action-packed Fast and the Furious series will return on April 14, 2017 with its eight movie, Fast and the Furious 8.
Furious 7, grossing around $1.1 Billion box office, delivered yet another blockbuster despite missing Paul Walker, who played Brian O’Conner, due to a tragic car accident halfway through filming the seventh installment. The movie went on with Paul’s brothers doubling for the original character.
In the eighth movie, it is rumored that his brother Cody will make a comeback, not as a double for Paul Walker but possibly as a separate character in the movie. Cody is pursuing acting and is working with his late brother’s manager Matt Luber and is reportedly having meetings with Hollywood talent agencies, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
As for the story lines, rumor has it that Eva Mendes and Kurt Russell will return to play roles in the forthcoming movie. Kurt Russell, introduced as Mr. Nobody in the previous film, and Eva Mendes as US Custom Agent Monica Fuentes, played out the federal government involvement in the previous movie. While fans are yet to find out if Mr. Nobody will go for or against Toretto’s crew, it is highly possible that Agent Monica Fuentes will continue chasing them.
Additionally, Jason Statham, portraying the role of Deckard Shaw, may continue being the main villain of Fast and the Furious 8. At the end of the seventh movie, Shaw was sent off to prison, but with his skills, he may likely be able to escape and go against Toretto once again.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson confirmed inclusion in the eight movie, saying “Of course, can’t go on without Hobbs.” According to VC Post, one possible surprise on the movie is a planned spinoff revolving around the character of Hobbs.
Fast and the Furious 8 is said to be filming in New York City.
