There is not much known about the upcoming eight Fast and Furious film, but Vin Diesel might have revealed the title of the next film.
Diesel, who serves as one of the executive producers of the film, inadvertently told attendees of this year’s Teen Choice Awards the title of the eighth film.
According to News Every Day, Diesel, together with Michelle Rodriguez and Ludacris, went on stage to accept the award for Choice/Action Adventure movie for Furious 7. Diesel began by dedicating the award to the late Paul Walker, who played Brian O’Conner in all seven films in the franchise before he passed away in 2013 while Furious 7 was in production.
“I love all of you. I love all of you, and until Fast 8…,” Diesel then said, fueling new rumors that the next film will indeed be titled Fast 8.
Aside from that, the studio has not revealed any other details about the eighth Fast and Furious film.
No director has been announced to take on the helm of the next movie, although series producer Neal Moritz told Cinema Blend earlier that the team is still focusing on developing the screenplay before they hire someone to lead the production.
Kurt Russell has claimed that he has signed on as ‘Mr. Nobody,’ who first appeared in Furious 7, for an unspecified number of films as reported by Enstarz.
Eva Mendes is also reportedly returning to the franchise, playing a character that became the love interest of Vin Diesel’s Dominic Toretto in 2 Fast 2 Furious, Classicalite reported.
British actress Helen Mirren might possibly appear in the eighth film after Vin Diesel told Access Hollywood that it would “be great” to have the actress cast into the franchise.
“Of course I would [want her cast in Fast 8]! Who wouldn’t? “It’s Helen. Amazing…Tell her I said so,” Diesel enthusiastically said in the article.
