Vin Diesel, who plays Dominic Toretto in the “Fast and Furious” franchise, as well as one of the producers from the film’s fourth installment, took to his Instagram account to announce the official title of the eighth movie and its release date.
On the page, he posted a photo indicating “Fast 8,” which is set to hit the big screen April next year. Fans are generally happy and excited about the upcoming film from the franchise, which will also serve as the first installment of another new trilogy.
Although there are several rumors, no official word has been dropped regarding the general storyline of the upcoming movie. However, “Fast 8” may be shot partly in New York City and mostly in South America, given the news last month indicating that the studio is seeking for approval from Cuba to film the upcoming movie.
Another rumor indicates the return of actress Eva Mendes, who appeared as Agent Monica Fuentes in the second and fifth movies previously. According to an exclusive report from We Got This Covered, Diesel and director F. Gary Gray both want her back in order to assess how she fares with the audience, as they are planning for a spin-off movie of the franchise, with her character as the star.
Mendes will reportedly play a huge role in the upcoming film, but it is still uncertain how her plot will marry with the movie’s storyline. Aside from this, the same report also revealed that actor Tommy Hatto will be in “Fast 8,” playing the role of someone close to Mendes, most likely his son.
“Fast 8” is expected to feature the veteran casts such as Vin Diesel as Dominic Torreto, Dwayne Johnson as CIA Agent Luke Hobbs, Michelle Rodriguez as Letty Ortiz, Tyrese Gibson as Roman Pearce, Lucas Black as Sean Boswell, Jason Statham as Deckard Shaw, as well as the new character which will be played by actress Ruby Rose.
“Fast & Furious 8” is anticipated to be in theatres on April 14, 2017.
