Dame Helen Mirren is the latest to join an already incredible cast for the upcoming movie, “Fast and Furious 8.” The eight installment in the “Fast and Furious” franchise is already building up a lot of expectation after several of the stars who appeared or played a major role in the previous installments confirmed their participation.
In an interview with Elle Magazine, the 70-year-old “The Queen” actress confirmed her part in the film, although she insisted on not expanding about the nature of the role. “I said, ‘I’ll be in it, but only if I’m allowed to drive if I do drive in it,'” she jokingly said.
Her inclusion may be a surprise for the fans of the high-octane and action-packed film series, but she’s actually no stranger to versatile roles. The fact is Mirren has previously been quoted as saying that she would welcome a villainous role in a “Fast and Furious” installment. So does it mean she’s going to be the new antagonist this time? Well, that’s a prospect with very high probability, but driving her own car while racing with Vin Diesel’s character is a long shot though. The likeliest scenario would be that she’s the big boss, taking with her a bunch of wicked drivers.
This latest addition brings the upcoming film to a new level of excitement, especially after previous confirmation that Jason Statham, who will be reprising his role as Deckard Shaw, is also onboard, along with South African beauty Charlize Theron, who is to play the character Cipher. Those three alone are enough for this film to be labeled a blockbuster in the making. Aside from Mirren, Statham, and Theron, “Fast and Furious 8” will see the return of lead stars Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Dwyane Johnson, Ludacris, and Tyrese Gibson, all reprising their roles.
The film is scheduled to hit the theaters on April 17, 2017.
