Sherlock-inspired American procedural drama series “Elementary” aired one final episode this year before going on a short break.
Episode six of the season titled “The Cost of Doing Business” has seen the re-emergence of Sherlock’s (Jonny Lee Miller) father, Morland Holmes (John Noble). This is after a few episode of the Holmes patriarch missing in the show. Now, fans finally confirmed previous rumors that the older Holmes has a hidden agenda in exchange of helping his son get through some major setbacks. The show finished with the older Holmes seemingly getting through a more complicated situation during his dinner with his supposed pal and Interpol contact Lukas.
When the show returns in the airwaves next year, “Elementary” will have Sherlock and Dr. Joan Watson (Lucy Liu) working on a case involving a retired FBI agent. Titled “Miss Taken,” the duo will tackle a preliminary investigation which will eventually lead to a more in depth probe of what went down the night the agent was murdered.
To make matters more complicated, Joan’s stepfather (John Heard) will also be stealing some of the spotlight. Sherlock’s trustee partner and her stepfather will have an argument as Joan will not be too pleased that his stepdad used her as inspiration for his crime novel without even giving her the heads up. It is interesting to see how the situation will affect Sherlock’s and Joan’s interaction given that the former also has some parental issues.
Furthermore, Catrtermatt also published an official synopsis to the follow-up episode titled “A Burden Blood.” It reads, “Holmes and Watson investigate a homicide in which the victim was murdered in a manner reminiscent of the crimes of an infamous, and already incarcerated, serial killer. Also, Sherlock and Joan tutor Detective Bell for a police sergeant’s exam that would lead to a promotion and a post at another precinct.”
“Elementary” season 4 will be back on air on Jan. 7 on CBS.
