In a little more than a week, “Elementary” will return with its fourth season to see father and son reunite.
Earlier, there was news that John Noble will join the cast of “Elementary” season 4. It is confirmed that he will play the role of Morland Holmes, Sherlock’s (Johnny Lee Miller) father. Although these kinds of reunion normally call for celebration, it will not be an easy start for both, as Morland has not been part of Sherlock’s life for a long time.
Around two months ago, executive producer Rob Doherty revealed details about this reunion to Entertainment Weekly.
“Once he arrives, Sherlock does not appreciate the attention or the distraction that his dad represents. For him, it’s a little too late,” Doherty said. “This is a father and a son with a very complicated history. I’d say for at least a couple of decades, Sherlock’s father has been out of sight, out of mind. This is going to be a big adjustment for Sherlock to have dad nearby.”
Episode 1 may deal strongly with the said father-son encounter. On the other hand, episode 2, titled “Evidence of Things Not Seen,” will not only continue to deal with the aforementioned situation but will also see the usual cracking of mystery cases by Sherlock and Joan Watson (Lucy Liu).
In its official synopsis, Spoiler TV mentioned that Morland will help Sherlock and Watson to be reinstated in the NYPD using his influence. However, Sherlock is doubtful about his father’s motives. Aside from this, Watson will also explore an engagement with the FBI in investigating a triple homicide in a top secret research lab.
