'Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2' release date, news: Bandai Namco adds classic 'Dragon Ball' characters to upcoming game


Ahead of the release of “Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2,” Bandai Namco released a few screenshots of the upcoming title which shows that classic “Dragon Ball” characters have been added to the game.

“Dragon Ball Z: Fusion Reborn” hero, Gojita, is featured in one of the photos, as well as the movie’s villain, Janemba. The screenshots also reveal that Goku’s father, Bardock, is included in the game, along with Future Trunks and Future Gohan. Fan favorite fighter Android 16 and Cell in his imperfect form will also be in “Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2.” It was previously reported that Majin Vegeta is set to appear in the game.

Before the game is launched, it was announced that “Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2” open beta is going to be released though Bandai Namco has yet to give out details about the beta testing. Gamespot reports that the beta will give players the opportunity to explore the new hub area called Conton City. The hub is said to be seven times larger than the previous game’s hub and it is where players will train, get quests, and obtain items. Along with this, it was also announced that the game will have an Expert Player mode.

According to Techno Buffalo, Bandai Namco is set to announce more “Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2” news at the Tokyo Games Show (TGS) 2016. The event, which is set to run from Sept. 15 to 18, will see the launch of several new games, and game developers are also expected to give updates on the progress of upcoming titles.

Gematsu was able to get Bandai Namco’s TGS 2016 stage schedule, and the gaming titan will give the latest information about a “Dragon Ball” game on Saturday, Sept. 17 at 11 a.m. JST on the main stage. The company is also set to discuss “Dragon Ball Fusions” at the convention’s special stage on Sept. 18.

“Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2” launches for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on Oct. 25.
