'DOOM' news updates: New difficult setting, Easter eggs revealed

The new video game from the “Doom” franchise will be released less than two weeks from now. As the release draws nearer, a new mode of campaign has been unveiled.

The new hit first person shooting (FPS) game will contain a new mode called Ultra-Nightmare mode. Players who are familiar with the classic Nightmare mode will find Ultra-Nightmare mode to be harder and more challenging.

According to IGN, the difficult mode of the game will give players more challenges since there is no turning back in this setting. There will be no checkpoints, and once the character dies, the player will begin again from the start of the campaign.

Executive Producer Marty Stratton and Creative Director Hugo Martin of “DOOM” mentioned that nobody from the company, id Software, has managed to beat this mode. They also mentioned that the difficulty of the game has started a competitive environment among the employees of the company.

In addition, some Easter eggs were revealed during the multiplayer beta of the game. As reported by Game Transfers, a video showed that there were fragments of the old levels present in the main campaign of “DOOM.” These levels pay tribute to the previous titles of the franchise, “Doom” and “Doom 2”, that were released in the 90s.

Tweak Town has reported that the main campaign of “DOOM” will contain 17 levels. Also, depending on the mode that the player chooses, the game may be finished within an average of 13 hours.

Fans of the game can expect “DOOM” to be launched for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on May 13, 2016.
