Doctor Who season 9 spoilers: Episode 2 'The Witch's Familiar' sees the Doctor without help; will he give in to temptation?

Following a heart-thumping season nine premiere of BBC’s science-fiction series “Doctor Who”, Peter Capaldi who plays the titular character will be faced with some difficult undertakings for the follow-up installment titled, “The Witch’s Familiar.”

In the sneak peek shared by Den of Geek, a voice ominously says, “Imagine, to hold in your hand the path beat of every dying. Genocide in a moment… are you ready to be a god?”

The official synopsis revealed that the Time Lord will not be rescuing Clara and Missy yet, after they got separated and the two were vaporized by Daleks.

Instead, he may be enticed to do something he would originally resist, “Trapped and alone in a terrifying Dalek city, the Doctor is at the heart of an evil Empire: no sonic, no TARDIS, nobody to help. With his greatest temptation before him, can the Doctor resist? And will be there mercy?”

Reports claim that he will be given a chance to kill Davros as a child, annihilating the chance of the entire Dalek species to exist even. But the question remains if he can kill an innocent kid even if he knows that it is capable of causing a lot of deaths in the future.

Presumably adding to his dilemma is that present-day Davros does not answer to his appeal to spare the lives of his female companion and one of his enemies because he reportedly refused the latter’s request beforehand.

On another note, episode one called “The Magician’s Apprentice” was greeted with enthusiasm from fans as it garnered the highest rating in the series to date with reportedly a total of 2 million viewers and the number one most social drama of the night according to Nielsen and ListenFirst’s Digital Audience Ratings for Television, respectively.

Doctor Who season nine episode two is slated to air on Saturday, September 26.
