'Digimon World: Next Order' news: Meicoomon announced as DLC

A new free downloadable content (DLC) for the upcoming “Digimon World: Next Order” was recently announced, and it was revealed to be Meicoomon, the original Digimon that first appeared in the film “Digimon Adventure tri.”

According to a report by Gematsu, game publisher BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment announced the DLC via a live stream event for “Digimon World: Next Order.” Meicoomon is an all-new and original Digimon that first appeared in “Digimon Adventure tri.” Meicoomon only appeared briefly and was revealed to be the Digimon partner of a new Chosen Child. In the game, Meicoomon will be given to players as a free DLC.

The free Meicoomon DLC will come to the game sometime in March, along with a patch update that will be adding a new scenario, among other changes. Players who will be able to clear the additional scenario that will come with the patch update will get an item that will grant them access to Meicoomon’s unlockable abilities.

While the new Digimon has yet to spring into action in the anime, gameplay footage form the most recent live streaming event for the game showed Meicoomon in action as she interacts with the female protagonist along with another Digimon, Tailmon. Fans also got to see Meicoomon use his powers for the first time in a battle against a wild Digimon.

Players who will be buying the first print run of “Digimon World: Next Order” will receive a set of exclusive freebies including a digital reprint of the 1990 “Digimon World” original soundtrack, featuring 36 songs, and a DigiEgg of a talking Agumon and Gabumon.

“Digimon World: Next Order” will be released in Japan for the PlayStation Vita handheld on March 17. Unlike the recently released “Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth,” “Next Order” has not been confirmed for an English version.
