'Destiny' expansion release date: Mysterious hidden item points to possible Sept. 20 launch

Players of Bungie’s widely popular game “Destiny” have reportedly spotted a clue that points to the possible release date for the title’s next big expansion.

According to Eurogamer, gamers have discovered what could be a mysterious new piece of lore in the latest limited update released this month. The said element is located in the Prison of Elders, hidden inside a Dead Ghost. It has been noted that what is interesting with the item is that 16 minutes after the developers made the update live, a walkthrough on how to acquire it immediately popped up on Reddit.

The thread was reportedly published by a user named Rezyl Azzir, who somehow completed the full additional contents in just a short span of time. Although other Redditors were skeptical at first, when they followed the guide, they also found the hidden object. The lore contains details about a character named Rezyl Azzir and his backstory during the time the game’s City was founded.

The thread has now been deleted but gamers were able to glimpse a Latin message presumably posted by Azzir, “Vegisima die mensis noni. ILLUD est venturus. Per Audacia ad astra,” which translates to “The twentieth day of the ninth month. IT is coming. Forward, to the stars.”

The message also reflects the same schedule hinted by developers on their most recent weekly blog post, “The next point on the horizon is an update we’re cooking up for the Fall. I’ve seen it. I’m excited about it. I will say no more… For now,” community manager David Dague wrote.

“Hopefully, the ramp up to the April Update served up some proof that we love speaking at length about new ‘Destiny’ content, once it arrives at its final form. Later on this summer, we’ll show you the scope, scale, and flavour for the next challenge you’ll face,” he added.

It remains to be seen if the next DLC is indeed going to be released on Sept. 20, while the touted “Destiny 2” is predicted to arrive sometime next year.
