It’s official the hit shooter game “Destiny” is getting a new expansion pack titled “Rise of Iron.”
Following a series of leaks and rumors in the last week, Bungie has officially announced the arrival of a new downloadable content for “Destiny.” While Bungie made efforts to keep the existence of this new DLC as a secret and use the element of surprise, the game developer did recognize the series of recent leaks that have preempted the reveal of the new content.
“In truth, there may have been a rumor or three swirling around this one,” Bungie said. “Serving a ravenous community that will not sit still in waiting for a scheduled announcement is a luxurious challenge. You honor us with your appetite for new details about our work.”
In a recent livestream event by Bungie, it was revealed that the new “Rise of Iron” DLC expansion pack would be made exclusive to players on the PlayStation 4 and on the Xbox One, skipping PC and the previous generation of consoles. The new expansion would be priced at $29.99, and would be available for purchase starting Sept. 30. Players who would want to play the new expansion would need to have the main game on their system, and must have all other previous DLC packs “The Dark Below,” “House of Wolves,” and “The Taken King.”
Bungie said that the upcoming expansion is set to be bigger than “The Dark Below” and “House of Wolves.” It will feature new areas to play, new raids, more patrol, public events, as well as the chance for players to visit The Wall anytime they would want to.
“Rise of Iron is an exciting addition to the Destiny universe,” Bungie CEO Pete Parsons said in a statement. “We are continually blown away and inspired by the growing Destiny community’s energy and enthusiasm.”
More details regarding the “Rise of Iron” expansion pack will be announced by Bungie during their upcoming presentation at the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2016. The trade show takes place in Los Angeles, California from June 14 to 16.
