'Deadpool 2' spoilers: Fans believe there could be a crossover with 'X-Men' franchise

There is a lot of anticipation for the sequel of the hit superhero movie “Deadpool.”

Ryan Reynold’s interpretation of the character was well-received by fans, garnering a high demand for a new installment. Fans have been an integral part of the “Deadpool” movie’s execution as they are the ones pushing for its development. With that, it seems as though their requests have been heard once more, as a second movie of “Deadpool” is expected to release. Reynolds himself confirmed that a second movie is in place during CinemaCon last March.

It was revealed that “Deadpool 2” will be moving forward with the same creative team. Though the post-credits scene of “Deadpool” did not share much about what could take place in the upcoming film, many believe that it will delve deeper into Reynold’s character. The initial portrayal of Deadpool in the earlier “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” movie did not really do the character justice, angering fans of the comic character. With that, 20th Century Fox is expected to make up for this by bringing out more of Deadpool in the upcoming sequel.

During the 2016 Saturn Awards earlier this month, “Deadpool” producer Simon Kinberg explained that there is a lot in store for the franchise.

Kinberg said, “We’re figuring [the next X-Men] out now. The first thing up, we’re shooting the Wolverine movie right now and we start shooting Deadpool 2 at the beginning of next year, then I sit down and start writing the next of the mainline X-Men movies.”

Meanwhile, there are speculations that the upcoming film could crossover with “X-Men,” though this has yet to be confirmed. However, “X-Men: Apocalypse” director Bryan Singer explained that the tones of the two movies are quite different, making it hard to combine them.

“If you take a character as irreverent and meta as Deadpool and connect him to something as grounded and serious as X-Men, you have to do it carefully and gently. When you drop them all in together it can be a disaster. That has to be done delicately, but there’s plenty of room to do it,” Singer explained.

“Deadpool 2” is expected to release sometime in 2018.
